Mature JAV — 熟女 (jukujo) in Japanese — is one of the most consistently popular categories in the industry. The appeal is the performer: older women, typically in their 40s and 50s, presented with emphasis on experience, confidence, and a kind of appeal that the youth-oriented categories don't have.

The jukujo category has its own star system, its own dedicated labels, and a loyal audience that actively prefers it over mainstream idol or kawaii content.
